December holidays dawned on us and after carting our holiday bags to work, to after work drinks, and to the train station we boarded the train with excitement on our way to Liverpool where we were due to catch the Ferry to Belfast.
Shaun, Alexia, Lauren and I all found our seats and opened a beer and some snacks and felt very relaxed knowing we had a week long break ahead of us.
Once we arrived in Liverpool we made our way to the ferry port and after some last minute checking in we were delayed for 3 hours due to high seas.
We enjoyed a few beers and some Jagermeister (thanks to Shaun) before drifting off to sleep to the rocking motion of the Irish sea, and woke up with Belfast in our sights. We offloaded our luggage and found a breakfast cafe, before meeting up with Stu and Nathalie and making our way to our lodge for the week.
In Belfast we enjoyed a good deal of pub crawling, an awesome trip to the Titanic Museum, the most amazing Christmas Feast ever (thanks Stu and Nathalie), heaps of presents from each other, copious amounts of Guinness and Home Brew beer (made by Stu's brother) and wonderful company.
We fitted in a good hike, got lost in a forest, visited the Belfast Museum, spent loads of time in Carols (tourist shop), watched the Belfast Giants Ice-hockey match, went wandering in the city (much to Stu's discomfort), and had a good time just relaxing. We even experienced 4 seconds of snow...
Once we got back to London we cleaned up and looked forward to welcoming Woody and Chene to London, who were on holiday from South Africa. It was awesome having them down and I had a good time playing "toerist guide" with them. We did lots and lots and lots of walking, went up the London eye, went to the dungeon, met some famous people at Madame Tussauds and took in all the major sites of London.
For the countdown we ventured up to Camden Town where we had some predrinks with family and friends before watching London's famous firework display from Primrose Hill.
Thanks Stu and Nathalie for hosting us in Belfast, thanks Shaun and Alexia for including us in your Christmas and New Year Holiday plans (Christmas and New Year would not have been the same without you) and thanks Woody and Chene for coming to stay in London. I don't think I would have ever done all the touristy stuff London has to offer if it wasn't for you guys!!
