We found a cosy little cabin in the Kent countryside on the internet and so we booked it for a weekend to escape out of the city. It was a well needed break as living in London is so busy, rushed and noisy.
The cabin was located on a farm in Blackham, near Ashurst Forest (Winnie the Pooh forest). We hired a car and left straight from work on the Friday, arriving there after dark. The cabin had a cosy little fire place which we lit up as soon as we arrived. We cooked up some snacks and spent the evening sitting close to the warm fire, drinking wine and playing scrabble.
The next morning we had our coffee with the ducks and geese, down by the dam outside the cottage. It was still so cold outside and everything had frosted up, there was even steam coming off the dam.
We spent the day exploring the Kent and East Sussex countryside. We ventured all the way down to Brighton and Eastborne beaches......Really not that great. Visited a couple of cider and perry farms (cider made from pear) in which we could taste the local brew by tot glass. The next day we explored East Grinstead and the Winnie the Pooh Forest before heading back to busy London.
Always a treat to get away together and enjoy a quiet weekend.
“When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet at last, "what's the first thing you say to yourself?"
"What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?"
"I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" said Piglet.
Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.”
